Ways to Volunteer
What is Adopt-a-Park?
Our program that allows individuals, businesses, or groups to take a proactive role in the beautification of local parks.
Who can adopt a park or other public site?
Anyone: Individuals, corporations, and businesses, neighborhood associations, church groups, community service organizations, youth groups, families and friends.
What do adopters do?
Pick up litter (a minimum of at least quarterly), planting of plants and maintain existing flowerbeds, make landscape improvements and other types of year-round care and maintenance. Park adopters are asked to make a minimum of a one-year commitment.
Why adopt?
Adopting a park gives you the satisfaction of knowing that you are maintaining a beautiful place that everyone can enjoy. It gives recognition to your special gift of time, talent, and labor with a sign at your adopted site displaying your name or the name of your group or organization. It lets people know that you care about our city.
Are adopters recognized?
Yes. All park adopters receive an official Certificate of Adoption for their adopted park(s). Complimentary signage is placed at the park recognizing the group for their adoption. The sign is placed at the adopted site and serves as a visible statement of adopter’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the area as a resource for the community.
What is the official process for adopting a park?
An adoption agreement is signed between the adopter(s), and the City of Moore which solidifies the relationship. This agreement will be completed and signed in person, after meeting with the parks staff.
How do we conduct a clean‐up?
Adopters and volunteer groups working within their respective adoption sites may organize themselves to clean up their park on a schedule that suits their needs. The Moore Parks and Recreation Department does not require advance notification unless changes to the park are planned or if coordination of trash removal is needed.
Which parks are currently available for adoption?
Veterans Park, Parmele Park, Westmoore Park, Kiwanis Park, Apple Valley Park, Arbor Gardens Park, The Curve Park, Madison Park, Cottonwood Park, Greenbriar Park
